Test Valley Driving
Your Key to Success
Whether you have just turned 17 or starting to learn later in life, having a driving licence will provide you with skills not just for the road, but for life.
At Test Valley Driving, we teach students not just how to drive or how to park, but essential skills such as Awareness and Anticipation, how to look and think beyond what you can see and how to avoid situations rather than looking to blame.
You may be at College and learning to drive is just another 'tick box' exercise, or you may be a young parent, realising that relying on public transport is easier said than done. For those seeking their first job, a driving licence can make the difference at the interview and will undoubtedly increase your chances of a higher wage.
Learning to drive should not be a 'one size fits all'. At Test Valley Driving, we train and coach you according to your shown needs. Each lesson will have a plan but this plan is always flexible and built around what you need to learn and master. Being flexible and adaptable is a key skill not just from the instructor but from the driver also. A learner driver may learn at different speeds to their friends and family but no-one should feel intimidated and pressured by this.
There are 27 skills you should learn to become a safe driver and pass your driving test. These skills are split into 8 groups:
-
Basics
-
Control and positioning
-
Observations, signalling and planning
-
Junctions, roundabouts and crossings
-
Manoeuvres
-
Road types
-
Driving conditions
-
Following routes
Of course the ultimate goal of any learner driver is to successfully take and pass the driving test. You may pass it first time around, it may take a couple of goes. We are all different.
